Founding Robotics Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Bring up and operate off-the-shelf humanoids, manipulators, and mobile robot platforms for model evaluation and data collection.
• Integrate cameras, depth sensors, IMUs, and other sensors for world-model rollouts and policy evaluation.
• Own the robot-to-training data pipeline, including logging, synchronization, calibration, and replay.
• Build test rigs and benchmarks to measure model improvement over time.
• Maintain the robot fleet and debug failures across hardware, drivers, integration code, and ML pipelines.
• Translate model requirements into robot behaviors and reliable physical-world experiments.

Requirements

• Strong systems-integration experience with robots, drivers, sensors, and real-time control.
• Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS2, Python, and Linux at the systems level.
• Ability to debug across the stack, from kernel-level driver issues to ML pipeline bugs.
• Experience standing up complex robot setups and keeping them operational.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Redwood City, California.

Nice to have

• Experience with humanoids or manipulators from vendors such as Unitree, Figure, 1X, Agility, or Franka.
• Previous research-lab experience where robots supported model research and evaluation.
