Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; in-office 4 days per week

Salary: $180,000–$253,000 USD OTE; base salary range $180,000–$220,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build user-facing features and scale the core hirify.global platform for growing customer needs.
• Iteratively improve solutions using nondeterministic components and experimental methods.
• Design feasible product features, define actionable tickets, and assess implementation approaches.
• Develop flexible, reliable, and scalable backend code in collaboration with engineering and frontend leaders.
• Write tests and evaluations to maintain system stability as the codebase evolves.
• Troubleshoot technical issues, address acute customer impact, and create long-term resolution plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5–7+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with Python.
• Experience shipping LLM-enabled features in production.
• Ability to manage the full task lifecycle from product requirements through deployment.
• Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Work from the Austin office 4 days per week; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Django, LangGraph, LiteLLM, evaluation systems, or agentic best practices.
• Experience implementing MCP servers or clients and RAG systems.
• Experience with Postgres, Redis, S3, Memcache, or Kubernetes.
• Open-source contributions or substantial side projects.
