Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, with 25–50% travel to hirify.global offices and government field and test sites across the United States. Office location: Austin, Texas.

What you will do

• Design and implement backend synchronization and networking systems for AI operations across edge devices, cloud environments, and isolated government systems.
• Architect data synchronization frameworks using content-addressable storage, Merkle trees, and CRDTs.
• Optimize and debug distributed software operating under resource constraints and intermittent connectivity.
• Apply threat modeling, secure key management, and cryptographic protocols to security-first system designs.
• Collaborate with MLOps, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deploy AI components in restricted and air-gapped environments.
• Maintain testing, observability, validation, documentation, and compliance-readiness practices.

Requirements

• 5–10+ years of experience, depending on level, with backend systems languages such as C++, C, Go, or Rust.
• Experience with peer-to-peer or decentralized networking frameworks.
• Active U.S. security clearance required.
• Development is performed in Rust; the role supports learning Rust while working on the systems.
• Availability for 25–50% travel to offices and government field and test sites across the United States.
