Backend .NET Engineer (.NET)

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States; on-site collaboration is generally preferred.

What you will do

• Author and refine OpenSpec proposals, requirement specifications, design notes, and task breakdowns as the source of truth for development.
• Design, build, maintain, deploy, and operate backend services and REST APIs using C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL, and Entity Framework Core.
• Use AI coding assistants within approved specification-driven workflows.
• Write automated tests, deliver through CI/CD pipelines, and support cloud-based service operations.
• Review specifications and code, mentor engineers, and help mature the team’s specification-driven development practice.
• Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams to clarify requirements, troubleshoot complex issues, and deliver reliable software.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of professional backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET stack, including ASP.NET Core Web API.
• Experience designing REST APIs and working with relational databases, SQL, and Entity Framework Core.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD, automated testing, Git, and at least one cloud platform; Azure is preferred.
• Ability to work with specification-first workflows and AI-native development tools such as OpenSpec or comparable frameworks.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Direct experience with OpenSpec or comparable specification-driven development frameworks such as GitHub Spec Kit.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
