Senior Paralegal

Location: Garden City, New York, United States; normal office environment with occasional travel.

Salary: $62,500–$115,500 gross annual national range; expected starting range $62,500–$93,500.

What you will do

• Support attorneys and counsel with legal research, drafting, internal systems support, and litigation file management.
• Handle complex New York cases from start to finish, including scheduling, correspondence, discovery, medical chronologies, file opening and closing, and expert retention.
• Draft discovery motions, depositions, pleadings, subpoenas, orders, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Analyze records and data for discovery, interrogatories, and regulatory documentation requests.
• Prepare for, attend, and implement trial exhibits and other trial-related materials.
• Maintain databases and filing systems, conduct file audits, and recommend process improvements.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience as a paralegal with proven performance.
• In-depth knowledge of paralegal procedures, civil litigation, court and administrative filing requirements, legal research, complex deposition and motion practice, and appellate procedures.
• Experience with New York Labor Law, products liability, construction defect, complex property damage, premises liability, motor vehicle, catastrophic injury, environmental and toxic tort, trucking, federal court, and liquor liability cases.
• Strong analytical, research, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, legal software, databases, and case management systems.
• Ability to coordinate projects, prioritize work, build filing systems, and work with minimal direction.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or a related field.
• Certification in paralegal studies.
