Senior COBOL/IDMS Developer (Mainframe)

What you will do

• Design, develop, modify, install, and monitor COBOL and IDMS software systems.
• Analyze user needs, software requirements, system capabilities, interfaces, and project constraints.
• Modify existing databases and database management systems.
• Write logical and physical database descriptions and define database identifiers for management systems.
• Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, clients, and project teams to define scope and resolve technical issues.
• Estimate the time and cost required for database development and project requests.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field.
• At least 5 years of experience with Mainframe IDMS and COBOL.
• Ability to analyze problems, understand client needs, and work within software standards.
• Strong organizational, time-management, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.
• Professional presence and adaptability in problem-solving.

Nice to have

• Experience with Agile methodology and ADSO.
• Experience with federal, state, or local government agencies; Department of Defense experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of SQL, software development tools, troubleshooting, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with technical standards, data policies, customer service, and vendor relationships.
