Senior Software Engineer (Embedded) (AI)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; based in Hawthorne with full-time onsite presence required five days a week.

Salary: $140,000–$250,000 annually, plus stock options.

What you will do

• Architect and implement embedded software for an autonomous, production-scale metal 3D printing system.
• Design machine instruction interfaces for metal 3D printing hardware.
• Develop computer vision, sensor monitoring, calibration, quality-data logging, and system health software.
• Integrate control algorithms into production software with process and control engineers.
• Work with FPGA developers on high-speed data acquisition and create software for process-data collection and analysis.
• Develop, test, deploy, and document scalable, robust, and maintainable production automation software.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience using C/C++ and/or Rust.
• Experience designing real-time embedded systems with Linux.
• Experience with object-oriented programming and design.
• Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with FPGAs or GPUs, PCIe driver development, and high-speed data acquisition.
• Experience with real-time closed-loop control, industrial automation, robotics, or related hardware.
• Knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
• Strong first-principles problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
