Consultant, Cybersecurity (Data Engineer) (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid schedule with office attendance two days per week in Columbus, Ohio; Des Moines, Iowa; or Scottsdale, Arizona. Remote internal associates may also be considered. The position may be filled within any of the lower 48 U.S. states.

Salary: $118,000–$222,000 annual national salary range; expected starting range of $118,000–$178,000.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production-grade security data pipelines for telemetry, logs, events, and security datasets.
• Develop Databricks lakehouse data models and patterns for ingestion, parsing, normalization, enrichment, curation, analytics, detections, and investigations.
• Partner with cyber security professionals, detection engineers, platform engineers, operations engineers, and data consumers.
• Implement data quality monitoring, freshness checks, reconciliation controls, observability, lineage, and operational telemetry.
• Optimize jobs, clusters, storage layouts, and queries for scale, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot pipeline defects and telemetry gaps, support production incident response, and improve reusable security data frameworks.

Requirements

• Advanced experience with Databricks and Spark, plus strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience building and operating batch and streaming pipelines for high-volume telemetry and security data.
• Knowledge of OCSF telemetry normalization, enrichment, schema design, data quality controls, and lakehouse or data lake architecture.
• Experience integrating enterprise data sources, APIs, files, message streams, and cloud storage securely.
• Working knowledge of observability, governance, cost management, performance tuning, and production support.
• Typically six years of technology experience, including four years in cyber security; security operations experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• Cyber security, computer science, data analytics, engineering, or related education.
• Graduate studies or certifications such as CISSP, CEH, GCIH, CCSP, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or AZ-500.
• Insurance or financial services industry knowledge.
