Focus on developing SOPs and training materials, reducing waste through inventory controls, and supporting high-volume kitchen operations on a 4-week-on/2-week-off rotation.

Location: Remote Arctic mining camp in Nunavut, with fly-in/fly-out travel from Edmonton, Alberta or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories

Salary: CAD 21.00–26.50 per hour

What you will do

  • Monitor food production, consumption, costs, inventory records, and waste, investigating variances and generating costs for menu items.
  • Create recipes, menus, costing records, price-control measures, and standardized production procedures with the Executive Chef.
  • Ensure compliance with company SOPs, HACCP requirements, food safety standards, and procedures for receiving, storage, and food production.
  • Train kitchen staff on recipes, portioning, FIFO/FEFO stock rotation, production procedures, waste reduction, and operational best practices.
  • Create training manuals, improve training processes, and distribute daily menus and site-wide notifications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in hospitality, logistics, or supply chain is an asset.
  • Progressive kitchen experience in hospitality, hotels, camps, food and beverage operations, or industrial and remote environments.
  • Experience with inventory or cost control, accurate documentation, cost reporting, and financial tracking.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and cultural awareness when working with Indigenous and Inuit team members.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs and work for extended periods with kitchen equipment and physical activity.

Nice to have

  • WHMIS certification or familiarity with hazardous material handling.
  • Food Safe certification.
  • Canadian Red Seal certification.
