Software Search Engineer

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; hybrid work with three days per week on-site

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and optimize search-focused software systems for WorldCat and other hirify.global products.
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable code.
• Lead the design and implementation of features across multiple system modules.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate development tasks.
• Conduct unit, system, performance, and acceptance testing and implement improvements.
• Develop and interpret technical requirements and specifications while advancing search technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least four years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, and Python.
• Expertise in Java, object-oriented design, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Gradle, RESTful web services, and full-text search and indexing technologies such as Lucene and Solr.
• Experience with large-scale search systems, search architecture, Big Data technologies, and the Hadoop ecosystem.
• Understanding of Linux/Unix environments and database design principles, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools, graph search, vector databases, and LLM applications.
• Familiarity with New Relic and other monitoring or observability tools.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or DynamoDB.
• Proficiency in MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, performance optimization, and stress testing.
