Forward Deployed Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Location: Hybrid work from the Cologne, Munich, or Lisbon offices; fully remote work is not available.

What you will do

• Work directly with customers to understand business processes, technical environments, users, and operational challenges.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into implementable technical solutions and help prioritize what should be built.
• Design and implement production-ready applications across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and cloud components.
• Develop React and TypeScript interfaces and backend services with Python, FastAPI, .NET, or comparable technologies.
• Integrate enterprise systems, event-driven services, AI and LLM capabilities, intelligent search, document processing, and workflow automation.
• Own delivery from discovery through deployment, operation, monitoring, continuous improvement, and technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Several years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong background in full-stack, backend, platform, or cloud engineering, with proficiency in a modern backend language such as Python or .NET/C#.
• Experience developing production APIs, backend services, system integrations, frontend applications, and maintainable software.
• Knowledge of architecture, clean code, automated testing, authentication, error handling, logging, monitoring, security, scalability, and resilience.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, cloud deployment, containers, infrastructure as code, identity management, networking, and cost control; Microsoft Azure is preferred.
• Comfort working directly with customers, explaining technical decisions, and handling incomplete or ambiguous requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Azure Container Apps, App Service, Functions, Databricks, or enterprise data platforms.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, event-driven systems, distributed systems, or integration-heavy applications.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, AI services, conversational interfaces, intelligent search, generative features, retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, or guardrails.
