Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Dublin, Ohio, United States; hybrid with three days per week on-site

What you will do

• Lead the technical design and development of EZproxy NextGen.
• Modernize a legacy C-based platform into a scalable, secure, and maintainable access management solution.
• Design, develop, test, and deliver Java-based software components and services.
• Lead architectural reviews, technology evaluations, and long-term modernization planning.
• Evaluate AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI technologies for engineering productivity and future platform capabilities.
• Analyze performance, scalability, reliability, production support, and customer-impacting issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of software development experience with significant Java and enterprise application development experience.
• Ability to read, understand, debug, and develop C software, including legacy applications.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, proxies, authentication technologies, Linux or UNIX, Windows, and relational databases.
• Experience with object-oriented design, REST APIs, Spring Framework, JavaScript, React, testing, and CI/CD.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, mentoring, architecture, operational support, and hands-on development skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud technologies, containerization, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and emerging AI technologies.
