Senior Middleware Software Development Engineer (HPC)

Location: Hybrid work model in the United States, with on-site and off-site work at an assigned hirify.global site. Primary location: Hillsboro, Oregon; additional location: Austin, Texas.

What you will do

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize features for hirify.global's oneCCL collective communications library.
• Improve communication latency, bandwidth, throughput, and reliability across data-center and high-performance computing systems.
• Implement and enhance communication protocols across multiple layers of the communications stack.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers on Aurora supercomputer applications and supercomputer implementations at Argonne National Laboratory.
• Partner with hardware teams to optimize software-hardware integration for hirify.global GPUs and CPUs.
• Benchmark system configurations and debug complex issues across hardware and software layers.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• 3+ years of software development experience and 3+ years of Linux development experience.
• 3+ years of C and C++ programming experience.
• Experience with multithreaded programming and parallel computing concepts.
• At least one specialization in distributed computing, HPC communications libraries, collective communications libraries such as MPI, oneCCL, NCCL, or SHMEM, GPU software optimization, or network communications stack development.
• Self-driven approach, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, technical communication skills, and understanding of communications stack architecture.

Nice to have

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Experience improving communication latency or throughput through measurable performance optimizations.
• Experience with hirify.global GPU and CPU architectures, supercomputing environments, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience debugging across hardware and software layers and familiarity with scientific computing and machine learning communication patterns.
