Junior Data Engineer (Python)

Location: Office-centric work; the team is based in Oval, London, UK

Salary: £40,000–£44,000 per year, plus share options

What you will do

• Develop data pipelines for commercial, product, and insurance use cases, including product launch and claims data.
• Scale and maintain the data stack using dbt, BigQuery, Dagster, Python, and Docker.
• Build automated data pipelines and MLOps workflows to accelerate data science.
• Review engineering code and contribute to best practices and design patterns.
• Improve the quality of core datasets and promote data automation and democratization across the business.
• Contribute to the open-source tools used by the data and engineering teams.

Requirements

• Strong interest in Python and SQL, demonstrated through personal or academic projects.
• Interest in developing skills in Docker, cloud platforms, databases, and data technologies.
• Ability to solve problems, prioritize high-impact initiatives, and work as a self-starter.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Willingness to challenge existing approaches and stay current with technology trends.
