Senior Backend Engineer (Compliance Engineering)

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $190,800–$267,100 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Adapt Reddit platforms to evolving privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Build trusted and compliant product experiences with product, design, and engineering teams.
• Own product areas end to end, from technical design and coding through testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Lead high-impact cross-functional initiatives supporting business and platform integrity.
• Influence technical and product strategy in a new product space.
• Improve engineering workflows and standards while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience across databases, networking, and efficient computing.
• Experience with Go, Python, Postgres, Redis, Thrift, GraphQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
• Ability to design and implement complex distributed systems operating under high load.
• Experience serving as a technical lead on projects and teams with 3+ backend engineers.
• Strong self-direction, innovation, action orientation, and comfort working in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment.
