Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Data)

Location: Remote US; most roles can be performed almost anywhere within the country of employment, with occasional in-person work possible and in-person onboarding for new hires.

Base pay per year: $195,000–$255,000 in CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $173,000–$233,000 in all other U.S. states.

What you will do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Build and operate high-availability, low-latency systems supporting consumer onboarding, authentication, and verification across product surfaces.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, and business issues.
• Create and monitor operational metrics, support availability, and participate in on-call and keep-the-lights-on efforts.
• Improve code review and design standards, share technical knowledge, and develop team talent through feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages such as Python or Kotlin.
• Experience developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components using elegant, simple, and extensible designs.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable code and make significant changes safely in large codebases using appropriate tools and practices.
• Ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
