Location: United States. Must be a US Person under ITAR, able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance, and authorized to work in the United States.
Salary: $124,000β$175,000 USD per year

What you will do
- Design and analyze propulsion systems, primarily solid rocket motors, from concept and trade studies through qualification and production.
- Perform internal ballistics, structural, and thermal analysis of motor cases, nozzles, propellant grains, and igniters.
- Develop and validate thrust, specific impulse, and motor integration performance models for vehicle-level design and multidisciplinary optimization.
- Plan and support static fire, hot fire, and flight test campaigns, including instrumentation, data reduction, and anomaly investigation.
- Integrate propulsion subsystems with airframes, avionics, and launch or release mechanisms.
- Advise on hardware fundamentals, manufacturability, sourcing, make-or-buy decisions, and propulsion design standards.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in propulsion system design, analysis, or testing across the product lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of solid rocket motor design and proficiency in at least one of internal ballistics, structural analysis, thermal analysis, or nozzle design.
- Familiarity with static or hot fire testing, instrumentation, and data reduction.
- Programming or scripting experience with Python or MATLAB for modeling and data analysis.
- US Person status under ITAR and ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance are required.
Nice to have
- Masterβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience with air-launched weapons, tactical missiles, counter-UAS interceptors, or liquid and hybrid propulsion.
- Experience with energetics handling, transport, range safety, flight testing, or deployed propulsion systems.
- Experience with OpenMDAO, ModelCenter, surrogate modeling, or multidisciplinary design optimization.
- Active U.S. DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
