Senior Software Engineer, Promotions (iGaming)

Salary: $145,000–$193,000 CAD

What you will do

• Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries for the promotions engine.
• Architect and deliver features end-to-end in an agile and Scrum environment.
• Own complex technical problems, prepare technical proposals, and present them to leadership and partner teams.
• Identify production bottlenecks and risks, improving platform scalability and performance.
• Configure and refine DataDog monitoring and alerting for owned systems.
• Mentor engineers through specifications, pairing, and code reviews.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of computer science, data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience operating production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, performance regression remediation, and on-call rotations.
• Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, including Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for iOS, Android, and web clients.
• Experience with relational databases, Kubernetes, containerized services, testing frameworks, background job processing, and asynchronous event infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience building applications in Elixir.
• Knowledge of hexagonal architecture or Domain-Driven Development.
• Open-source contributions, startup experience, or interest in sports and esports.
