Senior Software Engineer I (Backend)

Location: Remote US

Salary: $124,800–$183,400 USD annually, with geographic pay tiers based on the employee’s home state.

What you will do

• Lead backend architecture and system design for critical consumer-facing features.
• Own the backend roadmap, drive technical decisions, and coordinate cross-functional delivery.
• Design, optimize, and scale distributed systems for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Set engineering standards, lead design reviews, and unblock teammates as the team’s technical anchor.
• Identify and prevent bugs and performance bottlenecks while delivering stable, well-tested features.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, and Copilot to accelerate individual and team development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep backend or distributed-systems expertise.
• Experience leading teams to execute and ship features as a trusted technical lead.
• Strong proficiency in Go, Python, Ruby, or similar backend languages and frameworks.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems handling real-world traffic.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and a generalist, T-shaped engineering mindset.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Frontend experience with React, TypeScript, iOS, Android, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with ecommerce applications.
