Lead Software Development Engineer (AI)

Location: Bellevue, Washington, United States. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Salary: $153,007–$188,000 USD annually, plus potential equity, bonus, commission, and pre-approved overtime where applicable.

What you will do

• Lead adoption of AI-augmented development environments across frontend prototyping, backend development, testing, and refactoring.
• Design and implement extensible full-stack features connecting React user experiences with resilient backend services and low-latency data pipelines.
• Build and maintain scalable streaming and batch pipelines with AI-driven transformations, anomaly detection, and automated scaling.
• Define full-stack and AI engineering patterns, mentor engineers, and guide ethical AI integration into production code.
• Drive shift-left test automation with Jest, Cypress, and integration tests, while developing AI-assisted monitoring and diagnostics.
• Own on-call responsibilities, maintain runbooks, investigate incidents, and improve platform stability in collaboration with product and design.

Requirements

• Extensive full-stack experience building reusable frontend components and complex backend infrastructure.
• Strong experience with React, TypeScript, and Node, Python, or Go.
• Deep proficiency in AI-assisted development, AI APIs, and vector databases in production applications.
• Strong understanding of data structures, distributed systems, and SQL/NoSQL database optimization at scale.
• Experience with test automation, maintainable engineering patterns, and technical design for complex multi-team projects.
• Ability to communicate technical strategies to technical and non-technical audiences with a focus on user outcomes.
