Principal Aerospace Modeling & Simulation Engineer (Aerospace): Leading advanced ISR modeling and simulation programs for government and commercial customers with an accent on technical strategy, model quality, and reusable simulation workflows. Location: Herndon, VA; on-site work required

Salary: $165,000–$220,000–$242,000 annually for the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

What you will do

  • Define the technical vision, modeling strategy, and execution approach for aerospace modeling and simulation programs.
  • Translate customer mission needs and objectives into technical strategies, program roadmaps, and prioritized work plans.
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of models, scenarios, assumptions, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Establish modeling standards, technical reviews, verification and validation practices, documentation expectations, and reusable simulation workflows.
  • Improve efficiency through automation, tool integration, and high-performance, cloud, and distributed computing environments.
  • Lead technical prioritization, risk identification, customer engagements, proposals, strategic planning, and analyst mentoring.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and an active or current TS/SCI security clearance are mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
  • 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work on-site in Herndon, Virginia.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving technical risks, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with government and other stakeholders.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of astrodynamics, remote sensing, spacecraft design, aerospace systems operations, or complex systems integration.
  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing complex mathematical algorithms.
  • Ability to build engineering tools and scripts with Python and/or Excel.
