Senior Machine Learning Engineer I, AI & ML Platform

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid); office attendance required 2–3 days per week at 44 Montgomery. Candidates must be based in the San Francisco area or able to relocate independently within 90 days. Occasional travel for team off-sites is required.

Salary: $183,000–$205,500 base annually, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and scale centralized AI platform services, tooling, and engineering best practices for rapid GenAI deployment.
• Maintain high availability and uptime for critical AI and ML platform tools.
• Prioritize high-impact engineering work and improve internal adoption and developer experience.
• Lead refactoring initiatives and establish centralized coding standards for engineering contributors.
• Partner with machine learning teams to modernize MLOps practices and consult with feature teams.
• Participate in on-call rotations, internal office hours, and cross-functional AI working groups while troubleshooting AWS, Azure, and Kubernetes infrastructure.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
• 4–6 years of Python development experience with GenAI and ML libraries such as LangChain, Pydantic, and Scikit-Learn.
• Experience maintaining and configuring engineering tools and deploying them within a Kubernetes stack.
• Experience driving adoption of generalized platforms and improving internal Developer Experience.
• Ability to architect full-project solutions as a technical lead in an enterprise environment.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and communicate complex technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with MLOps and machine learning model creation and deployment.
• DevOps-style operational experience, including on-call rotations and cloud infrastructure management.
• Experience debugging AWS or Azure environments and Kubernetes clusters.
• 1–2 years of Ruby on Rails experience.
