Senior Backend Engineer Mass Market Products (MMP)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland; work is available from hirify.global offices in Switzerland or from a home office.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate APIs and backend services from concept through production.
• Own service architecture, quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Help migrate on-premises Windows and IIS environments to cloud-native services on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Guide architectural decisions and improve engineering standards across teams.
• Coach engineers and provide technical leadership across team boundaries.
• Drive the adoption of AI-assisted software development and identify effective AI workflows.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with modern technologies such as C#/.NET, Java, or Kotlin.
• Deep understanding of API design, distributed systems, and software architecture.
• Experience developing and operating services in cloud-native and on-premises environments.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, CI/CD, test automation, and observability.
• Experience providing technical leadership, coaching engineers, and improving engineering practices.
• Fluent English communication is required for collaboration with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
