Finance & Strategy, Machines (FP&A) (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; staff are expected to work from one of the offices at least 25% of the time

Annual salary: $240,000–$325,000 USD

What you will do

• Own hardware forecasts covering delivery volumes, lease and financing expenses, and cash flows.
• Run budget-versus-actuals analysis for machine spend and explain cost movements.
• Act as the finance point of contact for machines during forecasting and close cycles with Accounting and consolidated FP&A.
• Coordinate forecast inputs with Capacity Planning, hardware teams, and the Compute deal team.
• Track spending and cash-flow phasing against multi-year hardware commitments and prepayments.
• Build leadership reporting and support chip and accelerator economics analyses.

Requirements

• End-to-end ownership of a forecast or budget in a hardware, semiconductor, hyperscaler, or infrastructure-heavy business.
• Strong driver-based financial modeling and budget-versus-actuals and variance-analysis skills.
• Experience partnering with engineering and commercial teams under deal-timeline pressure.
• At least 7 years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or capacity/infrastructure finance is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.
• Ability to work from an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time.

Nice to have

• Capacity planning or infrastructure FP&A experience at a hyperscaler or major chip maker.
• Experience building forecast infrastructure for a new or rapidly changing spend area.
• Fluency in lease and long-term-agreement accounting.
• MBA, CFA, or equivalent qualification.
