Structural Engineering Intern

Location: Based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; willingness to travel when necessary is required.

Salary: $75,000–$92,000 annually

Established consulting engineering firm providing multidisciplinary engineering services to private and government-sector clients across Ontario.

What you will do

• Perform pre-engineering inspections, surveys, and construction inspections.
• Complete, check, and review reports, technical notes, drawings, and engineering calculations.
• Prepare plans, proposals, specifications, supporting documents, reports, and permit applications.
• Complete preliminary and detailed designs for transportation structures and commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.
• Assist with tenders, proposals, cost estimates, project management, and construction administration.
• Participate in public and stakeholder consultations.

Requirements

• Registered Civil Engineering Intern with a university degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 0–3 years of experience in the civil or structural consulting industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid Class G driver’s licence and willingness to travel when necessary.
• Strong communication, organization, multitasking, interpersonal, and critical-thinking skills.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety and ability to exercise independent judgment within defined parameters.

Nice to have

• Building Code knowledge or BCIN certification.
• Bridge design experience.
