Principal Scientist (Metabolomics & Lipidomics)

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States of America. Relocation benefits are available.

Salary: $143,200–$265,900 annually, with a discretionary annual bonus potentially available.

What you will do

• Design and apply LC-HRMS and LC-MS/MS methods for high-quality mass spectrometry biomarker data.
• Execute global and targeted metabolomics and lipidomics protocols using biofluids, tissues, and cells.
• Process mass spectrometry data, perform statistical analysis, and build or use Generative AI tools and software workflows.
• Oversee bioanalytical quality control using industry practices and critical analytical reasoning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate omics data into drug target research insights.

Requirements

• PhD in biological, chemical, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of direct experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience designing and executing assays for endogenous small-molecule metabolites or lipids.
• Experience with sample preparation, including precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, or solid-phase extraction.
• Practical experience operating and troubleshooting UHPLC, triple-quadrupole, and high-resolution mass spectrometers, plus analytical data processing software.
• Knowledge of cellular metabolism, Generative AI tools, coding, biological insight generation, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
