TL;DR
Senior Medical (Science) Director - Immunology (Respiratory) (Medical Affairs): Leading medical strategies, clinical study design, evidence generation, and scientific communications for immunology and respiratory medicines with an accent on clinical development, payer considerations, and stakeholder engagement. Focus on designing and executing medical tactics across the product lifecycle, interpreting clinical and health-economic data, and guiding cross-functional teams through launch activities.

Location: South San Francisco, California, United States of America. The role may require up to 35% travel. Relocation benefits are not available.

What you will do

  • Design, execute, and monitor medical strategies, plans, and tactics across the product lifecycle.
  • Provide clinical and scientific perspectives for regulatory and scientific communications.
  • Support clinical study design and management, including evidence generation across pre-approval and post-marketing settings.
  • Plan congress activities and medical or scientific content communications and reviews.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including therapeutic-area experts and external organizations.
  • Represent the US Medical function in cross-functional, Roche global, and external customer-facing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree required, such as PharmD, PhD, or MD.
  • At least 7 years of relevant biopharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Understanding of or experience with Phase I–III and/or Phase IV drug development.
  • Experience in medical affairs, including data analysis and interpretation, medical writing and review, strategy development, and external engagement.
  • Clinical and scientific experience in immunology and respiratory medicine, including participation in a medical launch team.
  • Strong communication, leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to lead teams in a matrix environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience with controlled and observational study designs, clinical interpretation, and health-economic analysis.
  • Knowledge of the US healthcare environment, payer landscape, marketplace dynamics, and evidence-based medicine practices.
