Director, Commercial Operations (Energy)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California, or Denver, Colorado, United States

Salary: $180,000–$220,000 annually plus bonus and Restricted Stock Units

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Energy Development Analyst team.
• Own economic models supporting power origination, land opportunities, and data center site pricing.
• Improve project management, due diligence, pipeline management, and reporting processes.
• Maintain accurate, timely data across the data center opportunity pipeline.
• Oversee board presentations, project approval materials, executive reports, and strategic recommendations.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Finance, Cloud, Energy Innovation, Engineering, Pre-Construction, and Construction teams while monitoring energy markets and regulatory developments.

Requirements

• 7+ years of progressive experience in consulting, project finance, investment banking, private equity, energy development, or business operations, with significant energy-sector experience.
• 3+ years of managerial or team leadership experience, including mentoring and developing direct reports.
• Deep understanding of energy markets, project economics, and financial modeling.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite, plus experience with pipeline management systems.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

Nice to have

• MBA or another relevant advanced degree.
• Experience with data center infrastructure, HPC, or large-scale power-consuming industries.
• Familiarity with power purchase agreements, offtake structures, and energy project development frameworks.
• Experience using AI-based tools to improve analytical efficiency and output quality.
• Ability to travel domestically as required, estimated at less than 20%.
