Structural Inspection Technician (Steel Manufacturing)

Location: Port Kembla, NSW, Australia; site-based work across operational areas, including confined spaces, elevated work platforms and working at heights.

What you will do

• Conduct visual inspections of plant structures across operational areas.
• Identify and document structural defects, deterioration and potential risks.
• Prepare inspection reports and provide observations supporting engineering recommendations.
• Coordinate inspection activities with site stakeholders and assist with scheduling.
• Work safely in outdoor areas, confined spaces, elevated work platforms and at heights.
• Contribute to inspection process improvements and site safety outcomes while building relationships with operational teams.

Requirements

• Trade, maintenance, contractor or industrial operations background.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document issues clearly.
• Confidence working in industrial environments, including at heights and in confined spaces.
• Organisational and planning skills with the ability to coordinate activities and manage competing priorities.
• Strong communication skills, customer-focused approach and ability to work in a small specialised team.
• Proactive approach to safety, hazard identification and risk management.
