Threat Detection & Response Engineer, Senior (High Level Clearance Required)

Location: Primarily telework-based, with occasional meetings at client locations in Arlington, Virginia, or Pensacola, Florida, and hirify.global facilities in the Washington, DC metro area. US citizenship and an active high-level security clearance are required.

Salary: $119,323.00–$202,850.00 annually

What you will do

• Oversee the design and development of operational cyber countermeasure capabilities.
• Translate government mission requirements into software products, evolutionary prototypes, and advanced security capabilities.
• Evaluate technical alternatives and recommend approaches for design and development.
• Design methods for aggregating, storing, correlating, and visualizing cybersecurity data.
• Advise on data preparation, analytics implementation, visualizations, and the use of cybersecurity tools.
• Identify tool improvements, training gaps, and functional requirements while communicating progress and challenges to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience or master’s degree with 10+ years of experience in IT, cyber, engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years implementing custom, high-impact security platforms and working with advanced cyber threats, tools, techniques, and processes.
• 5+ years using network security analysis and IDS tools, analyzing packet capture and NetFlow data, and working with malware detection methods, attack vectors, and vulnerabilities.
• Experience with SQL or KQL, advanced dashboards such as Kibana or Splunk, cybersecurity frameworks, and attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures.
• Working knowledge of Greenplum, Apache Hadoop, Apache Kafka, and the mathematics behind machine learning algorithms.
• US citizenship and an active high-level security clearance are mandatory due to client contract requirements.

Nice to have

• Python or JavaScript scripting experience.
• Databricks Intelligence Platform, system vulnerability management, Linux/Unix, or Windows security experience.
• SAFe experience and CISSP certification.
• Experience explaining technical details to clients and collaborating with stakeholders.
