Engineering Manager, Access Control

Annual pay range: $200,000–$315,000 USD

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, hire, and grow a team of frontend and backend software engineers.
• Own delivery of major customer-facing access-control initiatives from concept through production.
• Partner with Product Management, Design, Firmware, Mobile, and engineering teams on roadmaps and execution.
• Drive technical direction while enabling engineers to make architectural decisions.
• Build reliable, observable, and scalable distributed systems powering millions of real-time door events.
• Improve engineering processes, execution, team health, code quality, testing, and operational discipline.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience with Python, Go, or React.
• At least 1 year of experience managing software engineers.
• Production software development experience across both frontend and backend systems.
• Strong software architecture, system design, and distributed-systems experience.
• Experience leading large cross-functional technical projects and retaining exceptional engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
