TL;DR
Material Program Manager (Aerospace & Defense): Developing and executing material strategies, planning activities, supplier involvement, and cost forecasts for naval technology programs with an accent on BOM control, MRP scheduling, subcontract management, and proposal support. Focus on balancing strategic and tactical material decisions, managing long-lead and obsolescence risks, and applying earned value and financial management to meet program objectives.

What you will do

  • Develop, coordinate, and execute material program strategies, plans, and subcontract management plans.
  • Coordinate with Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, Product Management, and Supply Chain.
  • Create project schedules using Material Requirements Planning and develop accurate Bills of Materials from technical baselines.
  • Lead material planning and proposal activities, including task descriptions, estimates, and representative cost analysis.
  • Manage actual material costs versus should-cost targets, make/buy/where decisions, and material forecasts.
  • Develop risk and opportunity plans, performance metrics, and corrective actions to meet program objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in the Department of Defense Aerospace & Defense industry.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance at the time of hire.
  • Strong planning experience and proficiency with ERP/MRP business systems.
  • Experience managing budgets, reviewing or contributing to Estimates at Completion, and performing material forecasting.
  • Experience with electronics or aerospace hardware and operational and manufacturing processes, including assembly, integration, and test.
  • Experience translating business and customer requirements into executable strategies and leading in an Integrated Program Team environment.

Nice to have

  • ASCM CPIM or CSCP experience.
  • Microsoft Project experience.
  • Experience collaborating with Subcontract Administration on complete, compliant Statements of Work.
