Founding Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: New York, New York; hybrid working opportunities available.

Salary: $175,000–$250,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for a discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Build core product features and infrastructure from zero to one.
• Establish and maintain the company’s technical roadmap.
• Evaluate the technical feasibility and scalability of product features.
• Lead the engineering side of the organization and help shape its technical direction.
• Mentor and collaborate with new engineering team members as the organization grows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of full-time engineering experience, preferably with a backend or ML/AI specialization.
• Strong knowledge of Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, MLOps, Linux, SQL, and Bash scripting.
• Understanding of end-to-end ML processes and expertise in at least one applied AI area, such as computer vision, language modeling, reinforcement learning, or generative modeling.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Practical, on-the-job AI experience rather than purely academic or research-based experience.
