Research Scientist (Embodied AI)

What you will do

• Advance robot capabilities by building AI systems, scaling data pipelines, optimizing training and inference throughput, and creating evaluation frameworks.
• Build infrastructure to increase research velocity including faster pipelines, predictive evaluations, and efficient training systems.
• Ship research to production by deploying capabilities on robot hardware and measuring real-world impact.
• Contribute to a learning flywheel where robot experience improves models and robot capabilities.
• Build large multi-modal generative world models and design data infrastructure for large-scale training and annotation.
• Own distributed training and inference systems to maximize GPU utilization and model performance.

Requirements

• Location: Must work onsite in San Carlos, CA, United States.
• Strong Python and PyTorch experience with large-scale codebases and data tooling.
• Experience in at least one of the four AI pillars: model and data, data infrastructure, ML infrastructure, or evaluation protocols.
• Graduate-level education or equivalent research experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field preferred.
• Experience with distributed training frameworks and large-scale data processing pipelines.
• Experience with multi-modal generative models, world models, diffusion models, or autoregressive architectures.
• Experience with inference optimization techniques such as quantization, CUDA/Triton kernel development, or serving systems like TensorRT.
