Computational Plasma Scientist (Fusion)

Location: On-site in Everett, Washington, United States

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Run kinetic and Particle-in-Cell simulations using WarpX or comparable PIC codes for hirify.global’s FRC systems.
• Develop simulation input decks, PICMI scripts, parameter scans, and repeatable workflows.
• Analyze field, particle, and diagnostic outputs with Python or similar scientific computing tools.
• Compare simulation results with experimental measurements and communicate clear technical findings.
• Collaborate with experimental scientists, diagnostics engineers, RF engineers, and MHD modelers.
• Create analysis scripts, visualizations, and reduced data products for cross-team use.

Requirements

• PhD in Plasma Physics, Applied Physics, Computational Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience running, analyzing, or interpreting kinetic and Particle-in-Cell plasma simulations.
• Strong understanding of kinetic plasma physics and Particle-in-Cell modeling methods.
• Experience with WarpX, OSIRIS, VPIC, EPOCH, Smilei, LSP, FBPIC, or comparable PIC codes.
• Experience with simulation setup, boundary conditions, parameter scans, convergence checks, or validation workflows.
• Strong scientific programming skills in Python, MATLAB, Julia, C++, Fortran, or similar languages, plus clear technical communication.
