Senior Ceramic Engineer (Material Science)

What you will do

• Lead multi-disciplinary projects on ceramic processing, forming, densification, and scale-up for materials in fusion generator conditions including high neutron radiation.
• Translate ceramic materials from lab formulations to prototype and full-scale components ensuring repeatability and manufacturability.
• Deliver inorganic hardware needs such as plasma containment vessels, electrical insulators, and structural ceramics with hands-on fabrication ownership.
• Serve as the internal ceramics fabrication expert overseeing scalable processing routes, vendor capabilities, and production readiness.
• Balance fabrication risk, schedule, and performance in a technically challenging and evolving environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, national labs, and universities to develop scalable ceramic fabrication capabilities and qualify suppliers.
• Represent hirify.global in technical discussions, supplier reviews, and conferences related to ceramic processing and scale-up.

Requirements

• Must have 8+ years of industry experience in ceramics or materials engineering including bulk and CMC ceramic process development and fabrication for commercial or large single-unit systems.
• Proven experience managing ceramic component development from lab to full-scale hardware delivery with milestone accountability.
• Hands-on experience with ceramic powder processing, forming, firing, post-processing, testing, and characterization.
• Experience producing large ceramic components and implementing scale-up risk reduction strategies.
• Desired but not required: experience with radiation-exposed ceramics or extreme environment testing.
• On-site presence in Everett, WA required.
