TL;DR
Senior Data Scientist (Healthcare/Machine Learning): Developing and implementing predictive models and analytical datasets from medical, pharmacy, laboratory, and provider claims data with an accent on population health, utilization management, and quality improvement. Focus on validating models, identifying clinical risk and utilization trends, and translating complex healthcare analytics into actionable recommendations for clinical, operational, and business stakeholders.

Location: Remote nationwide in the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $117,600–$161,700 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

  • Partner with utilization management, clinical, and business teams to identify opportunities that improve healthcare quality, member outcomes, affordability, and provider experience.
  • Design, develop, validate, implement, and monitor predictive models for clinical risk, utilization trends, quality gaps, and intervention opportunities.
  • Apply statistical modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics to support population health and healthcare decision-making.
  • Build and maintain analytical datasets and features using medical, pharmacy, laboratory, and provider claims data.
  • Translate complex healthcare problems and analytical findings into actionable recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Research scalable analytical approaches and contribute to modeling standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, data science, economics, mathematics, computer science, clinical informatics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience developing, validating, and implementing predictive models in healthcare, managed care, population health, or a related environment.
  • Experience independently developing predictive models that influenced clinical, operational, or financial outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, R, SAS, or similar programming languages for statistical analysis and machine learning.
  • Experience working with large healthcare datasets, including claims, clinical, pharmacy, or laboratory data.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, model validation, performance evaluation, and communicating analytical recommendations.

Nice to have

  • Experience with risk stratification, utilization management, care management, value-based care, or managed care.
  • Experience with causal inference, causal machine learning, NLP, or deep learning.
  • Experience with Spark or PySpark and deploying or monitoring machine learning models in production.
  • Familiarity with EMR data such as Epic.
