What you will do

  • Independently verify and validate perception software against system and product requirements.
  • Define validation strategies, V&V plans, performance metrics, quality gates, and release-readiness criteria for LiDAR, camera, GPS, and IMU-based systems.
  • Design and execute nominal, edge-case, degraded-sensor, environmental, operational, and sensor-failure test coverage.
  • Validate perception performance across simulation, replay, and real-world test environments.
  • Analyze sensor logs, datasets, and field results to reproduce failures, identify root causes, and verify fixes.
  • Build scalable automation, replay, simulation, regression, reporting, and quality-tracking workflows while collaborating with Perception, Autonomy, Systems, Hardware, and Field teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in verification, validation, systems testing, or perception evaluation for robotics, autonomous systems, automotive, or similar domains.
  • Experience with robotic sensors including LiDAR, cameras, GPS, and IMUs.
  • Strong understanding of perception-system behavior, sensor limitations, and common failure modes.
  • Experience creating test plans, validation procedures, performance metrics, structured reports, and root-cause analyses from logs and datasets.
  • Ability to work on-site in Irvine, California.

Nice to have

  • Experience validating perception for autonomous vehicles, mobile robots, drones, industrial robots, or defense robotics platforms.
  • Familiarity with detection, tracking, localization, mapping, sensor fusion, annotated datasets, ground-truth generation, and scenario-based testing.
  • Experience with software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, replay-based validation, sensor calibration, synchronization, time alignment, and sensor health monitoring.
  • Experience building automated regression tools or validation infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of structured verification processes, requirements traceability, and safety-oriented development practices.
