What you will do

  • Design and develop scalable LiDAR mapping algorithms for autonomous robot operations.
  • Improve the accuracy, robustness, and scalability of point cloud processing pipelines for online and offline mapping.
  • Deploy large-scale mapping and data-processing systems in production and support efficient, high-quality customer deliverables.
  • Validate mapping systems and algorithms on physical robots and in large-scale unstructured environments.
  • Own workflows from data capture through documentation and collaborate cross-functionally to meet project and customer requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in robotics and 3D computer vision.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python and experience writing maintainable, efficient production code.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of 3D geometry, computer vision, robot kinematics, point cloud structures, ICP, and NDT.
  • Experience with LiDAR SLAM algorithms and optimization tools such as Ceres, GTSAM, or g2o.
  • Experience with PCL, Open3D, Autoware, ROS, Ubuntu, LiDAR systems, and 3D data formats including PCD, PLY, E57, and LAS.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and independent working skills.

Nice to have

  • Research publications in leading robotics, computer vision, or machine vision venues.
  • Experience with CloudCompare, Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, or Trimble RealWorks.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data, georeferencing, coordinate systems, survey control, calibration workflows, or total stations.
