Data Security Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, United States; Fort Meade, Maryland, or McLean, Virginia. Occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility may be required.

Salary: $69,400–$158,000 annualized USD

What you will do

• Design data security architecture solutions for cloud computing, managed services, and service-oriented architectures.
• Lead security architecture, engineering, and enterprise data protection initiatives.
• Conduct architecture reviews, threat modeling, risk assessments, and security control evaluations.
• Develop recommendations for future data architecture and data protection capabilities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, technology teams, project staff, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of cybersecurity experience.
• Experience with data security platforms such as Virtru, PKWare, or Thales.
• Experience with encryption and key management technologies.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Knowledge of data classification, encryption, tokenization, key management, and data lifecycle protection.
• Secret clearance is required; a security investigation may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Zero Trust and enterprise data protection strategies aligned with federal cybersecurity initiatives.
• Experience integrating security platforms with IAM, SIEM, SOAR, DLP, CASB, and cloud security solutions.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.
• Experience mentoring engineering teams and providing technical leadership across programs and stakeholders.
