Senior Technical Writer (Fintech)

Location: San Ramon, California, United States; hybrid work model with onsite attendance required at least three days per week. Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $128,000–$159,500 per year

Product company building a front-to-back system of record for investment managers, using real-time data and embedded AI to automate operational complexity and improve client experiences.

What you will do

• Create user-focused product documentation, including user guides, release notes, API references, UI text, error messages, and in-app guidance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand new features and document assigned product areas.
• Improve existing documentation through structured authoring, topic-based writing, and reusable content models.
• Follow and refine style guides, content standards, and documentation processes.
• Coordinate with the product documentation team to deliver content using internal models and tools.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a technical writer focused on software product documentation and content design.
• Experience working on a software product documentation or content design team, preferably in SaaS or enterprise software.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience creating end-user content and UI text for business or consumer applications.
• Hands-on experience with topic-based authoring, DITA, XML-structured authoring, and CCMS platforms such as Heretto.
• Knowledge of documentation tools and systems such as GSuite, Git/GitHub, Confluence, or Zendesk, plus familiarity with accessibility and localization practices.

Nice to have

• Experience migrating legacy content into a structured authoring environment.
• Knowledge of AI systems and experience incorporating AI into content management or delivery workflows.
• Fintech industry or successful software startup experience.
• Familiarity with Python, Kotlin, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, API documentation tools, REST APIs, Agile, and Continuous Delivery practices.
