Security Data Scientist (Cybersecurity)

What you will do

• Analyze large-scale security datasets to identify threat patterns, attacker TTPs, and emerging risks.
• Build statistical and machine learning models for breach likelihood, segmentation efficacy, anomaly detection, behavioral profiling, and breach identification.
• Use security graphs to model attack paths, recommend segmentation strategies, and identify mitigation opportunities.
• Collaborate with threat researchers, engineers, product managers, and designers to integrate threat insights into product roadmaps, interfaces, and analytics tools.
• Deploy, monitor, and improve production models for scalability, reliability, and low false-positive rates.
• Research graph-based threat detection techniques, contribute to internal research and potential patents or publications, and track adversary trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data science, detection engineering, threat intelligence, or security analytics.
• Strong Python skills for data handling and modeling, including Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, plus solid SQL skills.
• Experience developing and deploying machine learning or statistical models for security applications.
• Knowledge of threat detection frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and security telemetry from EDR, NDR, AWS, Azure, GuardDuty, or Azure Defender.
• Understanding of network security, Zero Trust, segmentation, model evaluation, parameter tuning, and imbalanced security data.
• Ability to communicate technical insights to engineers and product leaders and work with large-scale telemetry datasets.

Nice to have

• 7–10+ years of experience in high-impact security roles.
• Knowledge of graph databases and analytics, including Neo4j and graph algorithms.
• Experience productionizing machine learning models in AWS, GCP, or Kubernetes environments.
• Experience at a cybersecurity product company, with identity threats or threat intelligence APIs.
• Publications, open-source contributions, cybersecurity or machine learning certifications, or familiarity with the Bay Area cybersecurity ecosystem.
