Research Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week, within walking distance of Caltrain

What you will do

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven agentic systems for software engineering workflows.
• Build retrieval systems, code generation evaluation capabilities, agentic user experiences, and agent backend architecture.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate emerging AI research into customer-facing solutions.
• Prototype and refine AI functionality using real-world feedback and iterative development.
• Identify and resolve product stability and scalability challenges for large-scale operations.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on AI/ML engineering experience after completing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency with LLMs and experience applying AI/ML techniques to complex, unstructured problems.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous research projects from conception through deployment.
• Strong communication skills and a strategic, innovation-oriented mindset.
• Experience with data-intensive applications and familiarity with the software development lifecycle are desirable.
• Availability to work on-site in San Francisco five days per week is required.
