Senior Staff Hardware Qualification Engineer (AI)

Location: Santa Clara, CA; onsite/hybrid

Salary: $175,000–$265,000 annually for L5 roles across US locations and functions, plus performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Define and execute EVT, DVT, and PVT hardware qualification plans for AI accelerator systems, PCIe cards, OAM modules, and chassis systems.
• Lead HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, humidity, and vibration testing for high-power ASIC designs.
• Oversee high-speed SerDes, PCIe, LPDDR, CoWoS, and power delivery network validation.
• Drive root-cause analysis of system-level failures using X-ray, CT scan, and SEM/EDX techniques.
• Qualify high-bandwidth interconnects and PCIe Gen5/Gen6 link stability.
• Work with Design, Thermal, Firmware, contract manufacturing, and JDM partners to implement fixes and align production quality limits.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
• 12+ years of hardware qualification or reliability experience with HPC, server, or networking hardware.
• Mastery of JEDEC, IPC, and Telcordia hardware reliability standards.
• Expertise with high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and environmental chambers.
• Strong statistical skills, including Weibull analysis, design of experiments, and JMP or Minitab.
• Ability to work onsite or hybrid in Santa Clara, California.

Nice to have

• Experience qualifying air- and liquid-cooling components such as CDUs, cold plates, and leak-detection systems.
• ASIC- and package-level reliability experience, including electromigration and thermal stress analysis.
• Python or LabVIEW experience for test-sequence automation.
