Senior Performance Engineer (AI Infrastructure)

Location: San Francisco, CA, US; on-site

Salary: $170,000–$205,000 per year, plus bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design and execute system performance benchmarks to identify bottlenecks and optimization opportunities.
• Develop and implement low-level optimizations within the Linux kernel.
• Write and maintain high-performance infrastructure code in Go, C, C++, or Rust.
• Tune data-plane performance for high-speed AI cloud workloads.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and improve infrastructure reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with Software Infrastructure, Product, and other engineering teams while documenting technical practices.

Requirements

• Deep expertise in Linux system internals and kernel-level programming.
• Expert-level proficiency in Go, C, and C++; Rust experience is also valuable.
• Hands-on experience with performance tuning, benchmarking, and optimization in complex environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and collaborate across functions.
• Experience or exposure to the AI and cloud ecosystem and standard industry tooling.

Nice to have

• Hands-on Rust development experience.
• Experience in high-scale cloud or infrastructure engineering environments.
• Familiarity with performance-critical infrastructure components beyond the kernel layer.
• Experience with low-level performance analysis and tracing tools.
