Location: Fully onsite in Irvine, California, United States

Salary: $70,000–$300,000 annual

What you will do

  • Design and implement calibration, localization, and mapping algorithms for autonomous robots.
  • Develop tools and metrics to validate and benchmark calibration, localization, and mapping subsystems.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable C++ and Python code.
  • Integrate and deploy algorithms into real-world robotic systems with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with expertise in calibration, localization, or 3D mapping.
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, probability, numerical optimization, 3D geometry, Lie theory, and 3D kinematics.
  • Practical experience with linear and nonlinear state estimation, sensor fusion, sensor calibration, and time synchronization.
  • Familiarity with LiDAR-inertial and visual-inertial odometry and SLAM algorithms.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, including maintainable and efficient software development.
  • Understanding of ROS and experience designing, building, and deploying nodes in complex robotic systems.

Nice to have

  • Publications or patents in calibration, state estimation, odometry, or SLAM.
  • Experience with noisy sensor measurements and outlier-resilient algorithms.
  • Experience designing efficient, real-time algorithms for computationally constrained platforms.
  • Experience with radar, doppler-LiDAR, GPS, or other sensing modalities.
  • Experience with modern version control and project management tools.
