Backend Engineer

Location: UK-based with in-person participation required throughout the year

Salary: £122,400–£136,000 GBP annually plus bonus, equity, and benefits

Overview

Join the Consumer Product Group to build the next generation of crypto-forward products and features, focusing on scalable backend systems and real-time applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to tailor products for the UK market and drive cryptocurrency adoption.

What you will do

• Deliver creative customer-facing features to onboard 1 billion people on chain
• Define long-term vision for backend system maintenance and scaling
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and leadership to create quarterly roadmaps
• Write high-quality, well-tested code
• Mentor junior engineers and support their career growth

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with service-oriented architecture
• Passion for building an open financial system
• In-person participation in team and company offsites is expected

Nice to have

• Experience with rapid company growth (startup to mid-size)
• Experience building growth experiments or A/B tests
• Blockchain experience (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)
• Familiarity with Golang, Ruby, Docker, Rails, Postgres, MongoDB, or Redshift
• Experience building financial, high reliability, or security systems
