Predoctoral Young Investigator, Open Ecosystem (AI/NLP)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States. Expected to work from the Seattle offices; on-site requirements vary by position and team.

Compensation: $113,300 per year.

What you will do

• Collaborate directly with Ai2 researchers on language-model and natural language processing research.
• Contribute to the Open Language Model (Olmo) project and research on fully open models.
• Co-author papers with Ai2 researchers and publish at top venues.
• Use Ai2 data, engineering infrastructure, and research tools to conduct research.
• Prepare for graduate-level research and, for candidates already enrolled in graduate studies, support collaborative projects aligned with thesis work.
• Work in a research environment without grant-writing, teaching, or administrative responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Strong interest in language-model-based artificial intelligence and natural language processing.
• Desire to enter a PhD program within the next 1–3 years.
• Applicants already enrolled in a PhD program may apply to align their work with Ai2 initiatives.
• Ability to remain stationary for long periods, communicate information clearly, exchange accurate information, observe details at close range, and work under deadlines.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment authorization is verified through E-Verify.
