Staff and Principal Software Engineers (AI)

Location: Remote. Preferred locations include San Francisco, the Bay Area, San Jose, Seattle, and Sacramento.

hirify.global builds open-source and enterprise data transformation infrastructure that converts documents and other hirify.global content into AI-ready data pipelines for LLM and generative AI applications.

What you will do

• Define and evolve the end-to-end architecture for the data transformation and retrieval platform.
• Build and scale distributed systems processing large volumes of hirify.global data across multiple formats and sources.
• Own Kubernetes orchestration, cluster design, performance tuning, and reliability practices across the company.
• Lead Python architecture and best practices for performant, modular, and maintainable services.
• Design and optimize Postgres schemas, queries, partitioning, and indexing strategies for metadata and retrieval pipelines.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead design reviews, and guide the transition of research prototypes into production systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience focused on distributed systems, infrastructure, or data architecture.
• Expert-level Python experience, including building frameworks and performance-critical services.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, including designing, deploying, debugging, and securely productionizing clusters at scale.
• Advanced Postgres knowledge, including query planning, partitioning, and high-throughput performance tuning.
• Experience with high-performance data or AI/ML systems, particularly retrieval pipelines, embeddings, or hybrid workloads.
• Ability to lead architecture and design decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Experience building or scaling production LLM-powered or RAG systems.
• Familiarity with open-source orchestration frameworks, vector databases, or hybrid cloud infrastructure.
• Open-source contributions in Python, Kubernetes, or distributed systems.
