Senior Engineer, Platform Operations (Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the Continental United States; 5% travel and participation in an on-call rotation may be required.

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, validate, maintain, upgrade, and support Managed Services Gateways across AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux, Kubernetes, Rancher-managed workloads, containers, virtualization, networking, storage, VPNs, and application services.
• Use Windmill and comparable automation tools to improve deployment, validation, maintenance, reliability, and operational workflows.
• Own complex incidents, requests, changes, and problems through resolution or escalation.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal cloud, infrastructure, security, and networking teams while documenting work in ServiceNow.
• Maintain operational runbooks, support patching and vulnerability remediation, and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in platform operations, systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
• Advanced Linux administration and troubleshooting experience, including hands-on Kubernetes and Rancher operations.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper-V, plus working knowledge of AWS and Azure infrastructure and platform services.
• 3–5 years of experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls or comparable platforms, Cisco routing and switching or comparable technologies, and enterprise networking fundamentals.
• Must be a US Citizen. Strong communication, documentation, incident management, and cross-layer troubleshooting skills are required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Cisco routing and switching.
• Experience with Docker, Git, Bash, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Experience supporting immutable operating systems, edge platforms, or fleets of remotely managed gateways.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, observability, CI/CD, and relevant technical certifications.
